What Is Speech Therapy?

What Is Speech Therapy, Really?

Well… yes, in short:
“We teach people to communicate.”
But speech therapy is so much more than just helping someone say words.

At The Little Seedling, we focus on preventing, assessing, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of communication and feeding challenges in children. This includes everything from speech and language development to social skills, literacy, and even swallowing and feeding difficulties.

Who Do We Help?

To give you a better idea, we often support children who experience:

  • Pronunciation issues
  • Difficulty speaking smoothly (such as stuttering)
  • Trouble using words or forming sentences
  • Reading or writing challenges
  • Difficulty making or keeping friends
  • Sensory-related food aversions or picky eating
  • Swallowing difficulties
  • Hearing-related communication delays

Every child is unique—and so is their communication journey. Our goal is to find the most effective way to give each child their voice, allowing them to connect meaningfully with the world and people around them.

Why We Do What We Do

Watching a child say their first full sentence, make a new friend, or try a new food for the first time—that’s the joy that keeps us going. No matter how big or small the progress, it’s always worth celebrating.

We believe that communication is a right, not a privilege, and we are here to empower children with the tools they need to thrive.

Not Sure If You Should Be Concerned?

If any of the challenges above sound familiar—or if you’re just not sure—it’s perfectly okay to have questions. We’re here to help! We strongly believe in early intervention speech therapy—starting support as soon as challenges are noticed can make a big difference. You’re welcome to book a free 15-minute discovery call with us. No pressure—just a warm conversation about how we might be able to support your child.

We’d love to be a part of your village.
